    Auburn University is in Auburn, Alabama, the state’s largest Eastern city. Its warm climate and green spaces are perfect for students who enjoy the outdoors. With over 24,000 undergraduate students, Auburn University shows immense pride for its football team, the Auburn Tigers and students rally each weekend to support their school.

    Neighborhoods

    It is common for first-year Auburn students to live on campus in one of the 30 residence halls provided. However, upperclassmen usually move off campus into apartments or houses.

    Many students live north of Auburn University’s campus. These boundaries include Magnolia Avenue north to Bragg Avenue and from Route 267 east to N Dean Road.

    There are numerous apartment complexes students can choose from when they decide to move off-campus, each has its own impressive features and amenities.

    The Standard offers state of the art living and high-end amenities such as a rooftop pool, recreation center, and a study/business center. And 160 Ross offers a communal pool, yoga studio, and every apartment includes all utilities.

    191 College comes with furnished apartments, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and a rooftop communal pool. Meanwhile, The Hub offers students affordable prices for apartments with two to four-bedrooms as well as a pool and a fitness center.

    West & Wright has two to five-bedroom apartment units, multiple comfortable lounges, a fitness center, and a communal pool. Logan Square is also a good option as it is extremely close to campus and has apartment units ranging from three to five-bedrooms as well as a communal pool. Lastly, The Union is an ultra-modern apartment complex with 2-to-6-bedroom units and all utilities included with the rent.

    Students can also opt to rent apartments and houses through private landlords off-campus. These are simpler and sometimes less expensive than renting in an apartment complex.

    Dining

    Students living off-campus at Auburn University will not go hungry!

    Most of the restaurant’s students enjoy going to are located on S. College Street between Magnolia Avenue and Glenn Avenue. These restaurants include Esposito’s

    Italian Bistro, Tacorita, Big Blue Bagel & Deli, Mellow Mushroom, The Hound, Moe’s Original BBQ, and Fusion.

    If looking for a bar to grab a happy hour drink or to watch a football game, students like going to LiveOaks, Auburn Draft House, Quixote’s, Sky Bar, 17-16, and Bourbon Street Bar.

    For those students who need a caffeine fix or want to study in a coffee shop, they can choose from Starbucks, Coffee Cat, Mama Mocha’s The Bean, Tiger VR Café, and Uniq Coffee.

    Transportation

    Auburn University offers students a free transportation system, Tiger Transit. The shuttle operates from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. for students to travel across campus and to off-campus destinations. They also offer special shuttle schedules and routes during game days.

    The Lee-Russell Public Transit (LRPT) is a local transportation system throughout the county. It operates between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Students and locals can schedule a ride for curb-to-curb transportation ahead of time.

    Other transportation options include walking, biking, and hiring an Uber.

    Parking

    Students who decide to park their cars on campus must register their car with the university and park in the designated zone assigned to them.

    As for students who live off-campus, most apartment complexes and independent properties do offer private parking spaces. If not, street parking is available.

    Safety

    Auburn University has put an AU Alert system in place in case of any emergencies. Messages are sent via text, email, calls, and over social media accounts to alert students, faculty, and families of events that may take place on campus.

    There is also a night shuttle available to students who do not want to walk or bike home after a late night at the library. The shuttle operates from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. and services on-campus locations. Students can request a door-to-door ride through Auburn’s mobile app.

    Shopping

    There are quite a few shopping centers students living off-campus can go to. The two closest centers are GlennDean Shopping Center and Towne Center.

    If students travel a little further away from campus, they will find the Auburn Mall. Here students can visit some of their favorite retail stores such as Macy’s, American Eagle, and Aeropostale.

    When it is time to do some grocery shopping, there are two supermarkets close to campus. These include Kroger and Family Dollar. If students care to travel a little further away from campus to do their grocery shopping, they will find a Publix and a Walmart Supercenter.
