The University of North Texas is one of Texas' largest universities and is in Denton, Texas. The university has 11 different colleges and two schools and was founded in 1890. Though the campus itself is massive, students often find themselves interested in off-campus living to experience the surrounding towns.
Neighborhoods
Approximately 30% of students that attend UNT live off-campus to save costs. There are many options available to them, like the Off-Campus Student Living Community, in which apartments come fully furnished, roommate matching is included, and the campus is just a short walk (or bus ride) away.
There are also many student housing options for University of North Texas within the town of Denton. Because the campus is quite expansive and buildings are very spread out, think about what buildings you will be in the most and take that into consideration when looking at off-campus apartments.
To the North and Northeast of campus, check out the Hunt Club Apartments, Renaissance, Vine Apartments, The Cluster Apartments, The Oasis, and Pecan Grove. They offer various sized units, all within walking distance to campus so you can pick the one that is the most conveniently located for you and within budget. Dining
The University of North Texas is home to some amazing eats, both on and off-campus. What would a Texas food recommendation be without tacos? Rusty Taco is located on Hickory, just a few blocks east of Denton Square, and features some must-eat tacos when you are looking for off-campus eats.
LSA Burger (standing for Lone Star Attitude) is in Denton Square and features the best burgers, brisket, and Last Supper murals in the Lone Star state. You can also visit the Loco Café, just off the square, for some breakfast eats.
Dix Coney Island is another hot spot in the square known for its traditional American cuisine.
Finally, located less than a mile from campus, Barley & Board is a gastropub perfect for good drinks paired with great food.
Transportation
University of North Texas has various methods of public transportation available to students on and off-campus.
For those looking for a quick way to get on and off-campus, check out the UNT bus system or the DCTA. And, for after-hours service, UNT has an evening ride service, called E-ride. Students also receive free Lyft services on campus for the semester by using a unique code provided by the university.

Parking
When it comes to parking, UNT students can pay for permit or garage parking, or utilize the free park and ride service from the Denton Med Park Station or the Colorado Express Route. If you are looking to avoid parking fees altogether, there are off-campus areas in which UNT students and faculty can park for free and then utilize the free park and ride service to arrive on campus. As mentioned above, these services, while free, are more time consuming, so you should plan accordingly.

For instance, UNT offers a police escort service when buses are not running, as well as an on-demand e-ride service for nighttime transportation that students can use whenever needed.
